I was born and raised just over the river and through the woods in Saluda.I really didn’t make a choice for Newberry, in a way it chose me. I say that because it was always my husband’s intent to return home after college. I always knew that is where we would be going to live as soon as education was completed and desirable employment became available.

My vision for Newberry County would include a steady and continuing growth throughout the county. I hope for a diversification of employment opportunities that would attract people who would bring us additional talented and gifted people. Additionally I also hope we could maintain our small town friendly atmosphere while embracing new and exciting change to reflect progress.

The advice I would give my 20-year old self is don’t set your sights on one goal or one career. Be open to every opportunity that comes your way. Always be willing to adapt and to work harder and longer than anyone else. Your job will change. Your life will change. Your world will change. Your ethics won’t.

You would be surprised to know that I am a big Red Sox fan! I caught the fever on a trip to Boston.

My Favorite Books:
There are two books I open over and over. The first is the Bible on my nightstand. The second is “Our Governors’ Mansions”. It is a written history of and a collection of photographs of the 50 states’ homes, art, furnishings, and other historical artifacts.
